Lawrence W. Lazarus, M.D., has spent his forty-year career specializing in geriatric medicine and psychiatry, primarily at Rush Medical School and University in Chicago, Illinois. He has written about the overwhelming stresses experienced by physicians, nurses, therapists and other first responders to the ravages of Covid-19, their vulnerability to traumatic stress and the importance of providing early interventions.
